Starve and Obesity

    In this cartoon image, three people are sitting on the dirt. There is a man, a woman, and a child sitting on the woman's lap, looks like a family. All of them are thin like the whole body only has the skin and bones with two round eyeballs are going to pop out because not enough muscles can support them staying in their eyes. They don't have any hair on their head because there isn't enough nutrition for the hair to grow. What they wearing looks like a piece of cloth they can find wrapping around their body. Their face and eyes look hopeless and numb even the child does. The man is sitting on a piece of "blanket", have a bowl one his hand with only three grains of rice in it. 

    Now you must think this is a cartoon telling people there are many people starving in this world and probably telling you do not waste food. However, not only that, after reading the words that the woman says. She says: "EAT ALL THREE GRAINS OF RICE...THERE ARE CHILDREN DYING OF OBESITY IN AMERICA"! 

    Usually, in America, parents would tell us "eat all of your food, there are people dying of starving in other countries"! Then, it inspires us to finish all of our food. This cartoon is different, the character tells something totally opposite. Children dying of obesity compared to children dying of starving, one has overly amount of food and one has way too little food. 

    This cartoon satirized American children eats too much fast food or high in fat foods leads to obesity and some even death. Educates American kids to eat more healthy, but not fattening foods that would cause obesity every day. Another purpose is to show the unbalance of foods in this world, so people that have a good life now should cherish what they have right now. 

    This cartoon has a very strong effect on people from its image and words. The whole image uses a dark color tine which gives the audiences the emotion of depression. The author also uses some exaggeration on the look of the characters in the cartoon, makes them look extremely thin and sad (or people that are starving are this skinny and sad). 

    The cartoon uses ironic to impress people, people think about overweight people in America and look at peoples in this cartoon at the same time make a strong contrast. 

    The author did a great job of expressing the idea. Author promoting Americans especially children, not to waste food and have less obesity at the same time.
